Power Line Inspection
Lidar can be used to measure the geometry of power lines with high precision. Information about the lines, such as sag and the distance between poles, can be easily extracted from a Lidar point cloud. This allows engineers to identify potential risks and plan safe operations from the office by providing a detailed structure of the power line corridor including vegetation, roads, houses, rivers, etc. Furthermore, Lidar provides a highly accurate spatial product that can be viewed as a 3D virtual model giving a clear position for objects over a landscape, allowing future maintenance and design to be easier to manage.

1.Data acquisition: Data is collected using our Li-Air and Li-Mobile systems.

2.Point cloud classification: Pylons, power lines, vegetation, ground and buildings are classified automatically.

3.Cross section analysis: Features such as man-made structures, vegetation or other potentially dangerous objects in power line corridors are detected using a cross section analysis. This information is used for improving the area around the surrounding corridor.
